Rachel Beyer: Leading Global Change in Primary Learning

Rachel Beyer is a global education leader whose work is reshaping how primary students develop the skills required for lifelong learning. As Global Director of Teaching and Learning – Primary at OneSchool Global (OSG), Rachel leads the strategic development of teaching and learning across one of the world’s largest school community networks - with its 120+ campuses across 20 countries. OSG supports more than 8,000 students and close to 2,000 staff worldwide. Rachel’s role ensures strategic leadership for primary education, shaping teaching practice and curriculum design for approximately 3,000 primary students and more than 450 educators globally. Over the past eight years Rachel has progressed through senior leadership roles within the organization, moving from Regional Director of Teaching & Learning in the United Kingdom to her current global leadership role. Throughout this journey she has become recognized as a leading voice in modern primary education and a global advocate for independent learning, influencing how teachers design classrooms that develop student agency, reflection, and self-regulated learning. At OSG, curriculum delivery is structured around Lesson, Study and Tutorial within the organization’s Learning to Learn (L2L) framework. Unlike traditional primary education models, students progressively develop independence, collaboration and ownership of their learning. Rachel’s work is guided by this pedagogy, often stating to colleagues that “Getting it right in primary shapes success in secondary school and life beyond.” Research suggests up to 22% of the future workforce may lack essential employment skills, including collaboration, communication and problem solving. Rachel has responded by embedding these capabilities from the earliest years through initiatives such as the Primary Skills Framework and structured Study practices. Rachel contributes to education debate through external thought-leadership articles exploring self-directed learning, professional development and curriculum design. Her writing and frameworks now influence teaching practice across a global network of schools and contribute to conversations about the future of education. Through published thought leadership, professional learning forums, and global curriculum leadership, Rachel has become a recognized voice among international educators exploring how schools can develop independent learners in the 21st century and beyond.
